DESIGN PROCESS

Defining a project through a series of manageable steps generates a reliable design process. This is a complicated yet dependable approach allowing a project to be handled in a professional way. In some senses the evolution of a design process for an architectural lighting project is similar to the education of a human being. Moving forward step by step through the accumulation of information in a series of successive layers creates a trained professional person. JVL Studio method in this way formulates a human centric lighting approach in the center of its design in every phase of the design process.

Lighting projects start with the concept phase to define the project and its needs. JVL has a number of tools and methods available during the concept phase; analysis, research, brainstorming, inspirations, photos, refining feedback from other parties, sketching and preparing visuals showing the different lighting concepts for the project. These are all possible parts of the first steps of the design process creating excitement and expectation.

In the next phase of schematic and design detail with the tender documentation stages, the evolution of the process will reach a more structured level in preparation for fabrication and construction. Schematic phase design provides more details about the lighting design and the design detail phase structures the lighting design with a number of components.
